Intertecnica has always developed components for cold room doors that guarantee not only high performance in terms of durability, efficiency and cold retention, but also maximum convenience during assembly, to make installation easy and intuitive.
We are well aware that easy assembly of cold room door components is of paramount importance to our customers since it:
Intertecnica's solutions for simplifying component assembly
When developing our products, we work to minimise the number of holes needed to install the components and limit the number of assembly steps. The 5000 and 7000 series of fasteners, for example, can be assembled in just two steps.
Where possible, we also present versatile solutions that can be installed in any context. This is the case, for example, with our lever systems for opening sliding doors (such as the IK8000, IK8100 and IK8200 handles): they can be installed on any type of sliding door without needing to modify the panel. The installation only requires 5 holes to be drilled in the door, without any further work, which makes it possible to add a handle even where it was not envisaged in the design stage.
To make assembly and adjustment quicker and easier, all Intertecnica components come with assembly instructions specifically developed to be intuitive. The instructions, which include no text and are based exclusively on images, guide the user step by step, showing the individual actions to be performed. This allows even non-specialised operators to complete an installation job accurately, precisely and very quickly.
Adjusting Intertecnica components
Intertecnica components are designed to be easy to assemble, but our extensive experience has taught us that in order to provide customers with products that truly live up to their expectations, it is equally important to make the adjustment phase as simple as possible.
In fact, when installing any component, it is essential to be able to adjust the factory product to adapt it to the actual situation, which is almost never completely identical to the situation envisaged in the design stage.
For example, it is common to realise during assembly that the cold room wall has a slight bow, or that the floor is not perfectly even. In such cases, it is essential to be able to intervene directly on the individual components, adjusting them and adapting them to the actual installation.
Precisely for this reason, all products marketed by Intertecnica can be adjusted quickly and easily. For example, the hinges can be adjusted directly by tightening or loosening special screws, without having to dismantle the door. Almost all adjustments can be made easily by a single operator in an extremely short time and without any safety risks, which would not be true if the door had to be removed and then reinserted in its housing.
Many Intertecnica hinges, such as the 2800 and 2900 series, can be adjusted on all three axes, allowing the door to be moved easily in all three directions and achieving a deviation of several millimetres if necessary. Each individual hinge can be adjusted separately so the door can be positioned perfectly, allowing it to rest evenly on the gaskets around the perimeter of the hole, thus ensuring the best possible insulation of the cold room. In addition, this adjustment system also allows workers to check that the weight of the door is evenly distributed over all the hinges, thereby avoiding unbalanced stress on one of them. Sometimes, in fact, small failures of the frame that the hinges are anchored to can cause the weight of the door to be supported mainly by one of the hinges, while the others act only as the axis of rotation. This obviously carries negative consequences in terms of component wear and loss of efficiency.
The ability to quickly and easily intervene on all these aspects prevents the door from losing the seal, sagging or dragging on the floor over time, while retaining the performance it had upon installation.
Adjustments for functionality and appearance
Being able to easily install and adjust the various components not only affects the functionality of the door, but also its appearance, thereby influencing the overall result once the installation is complete.
The possibility of easily adjusting the hinges on a flush door, for example, allows the entire perimeter of the gasket to be compressed uniformly, which provides an impeccable end result, even with respect to the appearance.
Intertecnica considers all these aspects when designing components, because experience has taught us that the best results are achieved when aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand.
This is why we always work to make our components easier to fit, adjust and maintain over time, and to give our customers more independence in making the various adjustments. To provide support with this particular aspect of installation, we have created iLab Technic, a digital tool accessible via our website that allows users to view immersive, interactive animations showing how to easily and independently adjust various Intertecnica components.
